Help pages: Pathista vs Zapier and n8n agents

Updated

Use Zapier or n8n when you want an AI agent that connects your apps. Use Pathista when a person works with an assistant in a chat and the process must go step by step with evidence and a record. A Pathista run guides the assistant you are talking to.

Side by side

Six points compared, Pathista in the first column. Statements about the other product were checked against its public documentation on 22 October 2026.
PointPathistaZapier and n8n agents
Does the assistant see only the current step? Yes. During a run the server hands over the current step and the ways out of it, not a later step. In n8n the AI Agent node can understand the capabilities of different tools and determine which tool to use depending on the task. Zapier says an agent can still use any actions you've added, even if they do not appear in the instructions. Neither page describes handing over one step at a time.
Can the process loop or branch, with the routes enforced outside the model? Yes. Steps form a graph, loops are allowed, a way out can carry a condition on a variable, and the assistant can take only the ways the server offers. In n8n the agent can determine which tool to use depending on the task. Enforced routes are not described for either product in the documentation we read.
Is progress kept outside the chat? Yes. The position, the variables, the notes and the history stay in your Pathista account, so a run can go on in a later message, or in a later chat once you pick the open run. Not described in the documentation we read. n8n's AI overview says you can add tools and memory; whether memory keeps the position of a process is not described in the documentation we read.
Is evidence required to close a step? For checklist items, yes: an item closes only with evidence of at least 15 characters, and a bare “done” is refused. Pathista does not judge whether the evidence is true; it keeps it in the log. Not described in the documentation we read.
Where does it work? ChatGPT, Claude and Claude Code, through one MCP address. A Zapier agent's trigger determines when and why your agent runs: On Demand, Schedule by Zapier, an app trigger, or Trigger via Zap workflows & MCP. n8n: not described in the documentation we read. Pathista runs inside the chat of an assistant that supports MCP.
Setup effort An account, one connection for each assistant, and a workflow: write one, or add a template and edit it. n8n: You must connect at least one tool sub-node to an AI Agent node. Zapier: choose the trigger that determines when and why your agent runs and add actions: an agent can still use any actions you've added.

When Zapier or n8n is the better choice

When Pathista is the better choice

  • A person stays in a chat with the assistant and decides along the way.
  • The process has an approval step and an order that must be kept.
  • The evidence should be read afterwards, in one log for the run.

A real example: a prospecting campaign

The Local prospecting campaign template is a long process with a person in the loop. Checked against the template on 22 October 2026:

  • The steps that start contact (useful public interaction, first contact, replies and follow-ups, booking) can be reached only through the step “Approval before any contact”.
  • That step has a way back to rework the contact step and a way out to the wave review.
  • The follow-up ways are open only while touch < maxTouches, and the instructions of the step “Replies and follow-ups” have the assistant raise touch after each round.
